The process

From a bag of parts
to a watch on your wrist

Every Prague Watch Lover piece is built by hand on one bench in Prague. This is what happens between the order and the moment it is on your wrist.

2–6 weeks waiting for parts
5–10 hours on the bench

Drawn to scale. The hands-on work is the thin amber sliver at the end.

Sourcing

It starts as a pile of little bags

Every build begins as a parts list: case, dial, hands, movement, crystal, strap. I order from a handful of suppliers I have learned to trust, mostly in Asia, and then the longest part of the whole process begins — waiting for the post.

Ordering & delivery2–6 weeks

Watchmaking tools laid out on a work mat: pliers, case holder, blower and a watch on a leather strap

The bench

Clean mat, right tools, no rushing

Before a case is opened, the bench gets ready: case holder, tweezers, hand-press tools, a blower to keep dust off the dial and a cloth for fingerprints. Nearly every mistake in watchmaking comes from hurrying this bit.

Before every buildClean bench

A chronograph movement inside a rose-gold case, resting on a black movement cushion

The movement

Dial, hands, heart

Seiko NH35 and NH72 open-heart automatics, the NH34 GMT, VK quartz chronographs. The dial goes onto the movement first, then the hands are pressed on one at a time and lined up exactly at twelve. Dial and movement get labelled so every build stays traceable.

Movement assembly2–3 hours

Two finished MB GMT watches with black and blue-black bezels next to an empty case on the work mat

Cased & regulated

Closed up, then timed

The movement drops into the case, the crown goes in, the caseback is sealed and the bracelet or strap sized. Then regulation: the watch is timed and the beat adjusted until it runs where it should, followed by a final check of every function before it is signed off.

Assembly, regulation, QC3–7 hours

A wooden watch box with ten finished custom watches behind glass

Finished

A few that stayed home

Most builds go to a new wrist. Some stay with me — this box is a handful of them, from a minimalist dress watch to divers and chronographs. The next one could be yours.
